Set up your business
The two steps between your account and the dashboard: the four things the receptionist needs, then what Eli should know about your shop.
Right after you confirm your email, Dialhop asks two things: the four details the receptionist needs before it can answer a call, then what Eli should know about your shop. You can change the details later in Settings, and add to what Eli knows on Knowledge.
What the receptionist needs
- Business name: what the receptionist says when it picks up.
- What kind of business: an auto shop, home services (plumbing, HVAC, electrical), a law office, a restaurant, a salon or barbershop, a dental office, a veterinary clinic, a chiropractic office, or something else. It picks your template: what the receptionist asks before it books, what it never says, and a starter list of services with no prices, used until your own sources name yours. For something else, have Eli write a template for you on the Template tab of Settings after setup.
- Business phone number: the number customers call today. Dialhop keeps answering on it; you forward it to Dialhop when you're ready.
- Time zone: your hours and appointments are read in it. It starts on your browser's zone.
Set up your business
- Enter the Business name.
- Pick What kind of business it is.
- Enter the Business phone number. Type it any way you like; Dialhop tidies it.
- Check the Time zone.
- Press Continue.
Tell Eli about your shop
The second step, Tell Eli about your shop, gives Eli what it answers callers from. Both boxes are optional.
- Enter Your website. Your home page is best; Eli reads your hours, services, and prices from it.
- Under What callers ask, write anything your website doesn't say, such as "Open Monday to Friday 7:30 to 6, Saturday 8 to 2, closed Sunday. No loaner cars, but a free shuttle within 5 miles."
- Press Continue. Knowledge opens while Eli reads them.
Each becomes a source on Knowledge, the same as one you add there later. To come back to it, press Skip for now. Until a source gives your hours, the receptionist doesn't say when you're open or book appointments; it takes a message instead.
These pages are the help for Dialhop, the phone receptionist for independent auto repair shops.
